Sherlock Holmes Collections
The Sherlock Holmes Collections at the University of Minnesota Library constitute the world’s largest gathering of material related to Sherlock Holmes and his creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
An inquiry to curator Timothy J. Johnson brought a favorable response, so a limited edition hardback copy of Old Marvel, The Scientific Detective! was promptly dispatched!
Among Mr. Johnson’s kind remarks were these:
“Dear Mark,
Mr. Holmes left a copy of your beautiful book in the sitting room at 221B Baker Street, which I managed to capture in a few photos–as well as some additional pictures of your volume down with me in the vault of the Sherlock Holmes Collections at Andersen Library. It is a delightful addition to our collections.
I was fascinated by the resemblance to Holmes and that “Old Marvel” came before Holmes appeared on the scene. Well done! I look forward to spending some time with what promises to be a very interesting book!
